Weekend in Brussels, Belgium, by Vittorio Flaviano

Hi guys, Vittorio Flaviano here to tell you a bit about my last weekend :)

This weekend I went to visit Brussels, capital of Belgium. The trip had not been planed, it was a last minute one. I decided to write about it because it may have some useful information for future travelers.

Before traveling I had read that Brussels were very dangerous, especially the Immigrant Neighborhood. Well, guess where I had booked the hotel before reading that stuff? Huh? Yeah, right there...

I took the train in Amsterdam around 6:30 pm and arrived about 9:00 pm at Central Station in Brussels. I took a quick walk looking for somewhere to eat before going to the hotel. After eating I took the bus 66 near the Grand Place, which left me very close to the Bentley Hotel.

When I made the check in I found out that the Belgium Beer Weekend was taking place in Brussels, so I left the bags in the hotel before going to the festival. I enjoyed the beer festival and, when it ended, I came back to the Bentley Hotel.

Then I went out again and went from pub to pub till I stopped at Delirium Cafe. The bar is full with tourists and gas very good food at reasonable price, but the service sucks: you are treated as if the attendants were doing you a huge favor to sell you a beer. Some times I had to wait up to 20 minutes to be served.

Next day, after a great breakfast in the hotel, I went out on a tour in the city center. As I was not feeling like getting into museums and churches, the ride was in the "sight seeing" scheme. I found lots of beer and chocolate stores throughout the city.

Later I went from pub to pub again looking for somewhere with a cool sound. The only pub playing rock'n'roll was highly depressive, so empty it was, so I ended up going to Delirium Cafe...

Next day I took the train to Amsterdam early in the morning.

So that's it. Next month I'm planning to come back to Belgium to spend the weekend in Antwerp.

See you soon... :)
Vittorio Flaviano
